I have added a new piece to my illustration gallery: Secret Hideout. This is the first of the new pieces for my portfolio that fits the parameters of a good portfolio based upon my notes from the SCBWI summer conference at the beginning of September: interesting perspective, emotive characters, action, simple graphic shapes. And, hey! I even drew children! That's pretty useful for a children's illustration portfolio. :) This piece continues the graphic landscape elements that I begin exploring in my Woodland Nursery series, but with a little perspective thrown in for good measure.
It took a bit longer then I planned to finish this piece. I got a bit distracted with a book or two (or three) along the way. I have a couple of other projects that I'm hoping to finish and post in the coming week. But those are digital pieces and I'm already itching to get something back on my art board. More to come soon!
