I've been busy the past couple of weeks with multiple projects and will finally be getting around to posting some of the stuff I've been working on recently. One of the many things is finally handlettering my website logo!
I've decided that designing a logo for myself is next to impossible, and something I've started and stopped multiple times over the past couple of years.
These were some of the concepts I tried out about a year ago, but was never happy with any of them.
After I started doing more hand-lettering projects, I realized that I wanted to have hand lettering as a key component of my website and my collateral. Also, I wanted to have a bird somewhere in the logo because of the play on words in the website name. I kept trying to use my mechanical bird I created when I was still in college but it just wasn't working as a good reprsentation of my artwork these days. The new bird is playfully hand drawn, which adds the right balance of whimsy when all the other birds were too serious.
On my collateral pieces, I think the hand lettering will change to fit each piece, but the bird will remain and will be color coordinated, dressing for every promotional occasion! I have a general idea of how I want my business cards and postcards to look, but that's a project for May!
