our ornamental black plum tree is blooming this week and the leaves are such a startling red when the light hits them just so. the petals are simultaneously an absence of color and such a delicate color that looks like the breath of spring. I should

that feeling when you realize it's 8:30 at night on day 2 and you've already almost forgotten your month-long challenge. so you step outside and a pop of color in the dark draws your eye. I actually love painting at night because it calls you to trus

starting without line is challenging for me, but it's good to expand outside your comfort zone. I think I should draw these leaves again later in the month.

While it looks like Fushimi Inari Taisha, this is Hie Shrine in Tokyo! You get a mini orange torii tunnel without having to travel up an entire mountain. We went early and avoided the crowds.
